City releases P2.5M to towns affected by typhoon, quake

THE City Government of Davao will be extending a total of P2.5 million to the Province of Masbate and the Municipality of Magsaysay in Davao del Sur that were affected by natural calamities.

The City Council approved on Tuesday, December 17, an ordinance releasing P1 million for Masbate and P1.5 million for Magsaysay.

Masbate and Magsaysay were both placed under a state of calamity. Masbate was among the affected provinces when Typhoon Tisoy struck earlier this month, while Magsaysay was affected by the series of earthquakes in October.

The financial assistance will be taken from the 30 percent of the City's Quick Response Fund out of the five percent Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (Calamity Fund).

Following the approval, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is set to deliver the cash assistance.

On December 2 to 3, Typhoon Tisoy (Kammuri) ravaged the provinces of Sorsogon, Masbate, Marinduque, and Oriental Mindoro.

The Municipality of Magsaysay was also among the areas affected by the series of earthquakes that rocked Cotabato in October.
