Mayor lauds PDEA, police for success in anti-drug stings

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has commended operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) for the series of successful drug busts, as she expressed anew her all out support to the anti-drug war waged by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The drug bust was conducted in front of a fast food chain outlet in La Purisima Street in Zone III Village on Sunday, December 15, led to the arrest of two drug suspects and confiscation of half a kilo of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with a market value of P3.4 million.

The anti-drug operation was spearheaded by joint elements of PDEA-Zamboanga and ZCPO’s Police Station 2.

Last Thursday, December 12, the same operatives also arrested three drug suspects and seized more or less one kilo of shabu with a market value of P6.8 million during operations conducted inside a pension house along Governor Camins Avenue in Canelar Village.

Salazar said she met new PDEA-9 Director Edgar Jubay and personally lauded and thanked the agency for the unrelenting campaign against illegal drugs in support of President Duterte’s campaign.

She stressed that the city government under her administration will continue to support and collaborate with PDEA, police and other concerned agencies to ensure that the anti-drug campaign in the city will be continuous and successful. (SunStar Zamboanga)
