90 business firms in negative list

THE Zamboanga City Government, through the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), will not approve the permits of business establishments included in its negative list.

BPLO chief Benjie Barredo revealed there are some 90 establishments that are in the negative list of his office.

However, Barredo, without giving specific numbers, said some of the 90 negative listed establishments have been issued with business permits after they complied with all the requirements.

Barredo said business establishments placed in the negative list are those who lack requirements such as certificate from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Engineer’s Office (CEO), City Planning and Development Coordinator (CPDC), City Health Office (CHO) and others.

“If the businessmen do not have sanitation permit from the CHO, building permit from the CEO, fire inspection permit from BFP and others, their business establishments will be placed under the negative list and will only be given the permit if they will complete all the requirements,” Barredo said.

Meanwhile, he said that preparations are now underway for the implementation of the Business One Stop Shop (Boss) starting on the first working day of January 2020 that will simplify the process for registration and renewal of business permits.

He said Boss 2020 will use the same scheme and features as in 2019 but with minor changes. (SunStar Zamboanga)
