There are a total of 25 evacuation centers in Digos City, Bansalan, Hagonoy, Kiblawan, Matanao, and Padada.

Meanwhile, there were a total of 4,055 houses that were reportedly damaged by the 6.9-magnitude quake in the municipalities of Hagonoy, Padada and Sta. Cruz of Davao del Sur and Davao City while a total of eight schools in Davao del Sur were reported to have damaged classrooms.

Meanwhile, a total of 50 buildings or infrastructures sustained damages.

The retrieval operation in the collapsed Southern Trade commercial building in Padada, Davao del Sur has been terminated on Tuesday night, December 17, citing that “all was cleared.”

Fire Senior Superintendent Fred Trajeras, regional director of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Davao, in an interview yesterday, said the termination was declared around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, which was announced by the local chief executive.

Trajeras said the body of Emily Galyegos Beloy, a cashier at the shopping center, was the last retrieved from the building on Monday evening.

Earlier on the same day, the bodies of two victims were also retrieved. These were identified as belonged to Elsa Abanador Ababon, 57, married, and resident of Tomas Claudio, NCO District, Padada and Evangeline Tarongoy Artiaga, 70, married and resident of Brgy. Tanwalang, Sulop, Davao del Sur.

BFP, which was the lead agency in the operation, used a modern device to check if there are trapped victims inside. Since their life and motion detector did not detect any sign of life inside, BFP decided to recommend the stoppage of the operation.

Trajeras added there were no more claimants of missing individuals and all the workers were accounted.

The search, rescue and retrieval operation was headed by the Padada Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office together with Special Rescue Units of BFP Davao, Davao de Oro Province, Davao del Norte, Barmm, BFP-Caraga and SRR Teams of Davao Central 911, 39th IB of Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police personnel as well as Davao del Sur PDRRM Rescue Team.
