Sexagenarian killed in Bacolod road accident

A SEXAGENARIAN died after he was hit by a vehicle at Lizares-Araneta Streets, Bacolod City Wednesday morning, December 18.

Police identified the fatality as Hernan Abrot Sr., 62, of Purok United Roadside, Ramylu Drive, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office, said Abrot was standing along Lizares-Araneta streets when he was hit by a Mitsubishi vehicle driven by Eric Lapi-an, 42, of Calong-Calong, Airport Subdivision, Barangay Singcang-Airport at about 2:20 a.m.

Investigation showed Lapi-an was traveling from Lizares Street going to Araneta Street when he bumped the victim.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but he did not survive.

The suspect also sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

Meanwhile, three houses at Araneta Street, Purok San Roque, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City were damaged after a Nissan Navara vehicle rammed the electrical post, trisikad, and tricycle yesterday morning.

Pico said the Nissan Navara vehicle, driven by Jay Philip Uy, 29, of Barangay Tangub, was traveling towards the south when he bumped into the electrical post, trisikad, and tricycle and due to the impact of the collision the vehicle hit the three houses in the area.

He said Uy sustained injuries and was brought to the Riverside Medical Center while the owners of the houses were unhurt. (MAP)
