PART of the Children’s Playground at Burnham Park is once again being eyed for a carnival.

Linked-in Corporation president Belezar Ola has written the Baguio City Council anew asking for permission to set up carnival rides at Burnham Park. Ola, in his letter, asked to use the Children’s Park from February 1 to April 30, 2020 with a lease amount of P500,000 for an amusement park set-up, skilled games and food to go kiosks.

“To add more attractions and create limitless fun and entertainment to the Panagbenga Festival, our firm, Linked–in Corporation, a renowned pop up American park organizer would like to propose to conduct a family oriented mini carnival rides at the Children’s Park subject to terms and conditions you require,” Ola in his letter said.

Ola added that the company, if allowed to operate at the city park, will provide marshals, security, maintenance, and a housekeeping crew with a first aid clinic.

The previous council approved the setup of the carnival last year with a lease of P500,000 for five months at the city’s busiest park which was met with opposition by residents and sectors.

The City Environment and Parks Management office in a review thumbed down the previous carnival pointing to the lack of layout of carnival rides. The carnival earned the ire of residents and netizens who allege gambling as well as unsafe rides operate on site.
