SIXTY kids from Barangay 13, Bacolod City trooped to SM City Bacolod for the mall’s employees to entertain and treat at the annual ChriSMiles charity event.
ChriSMiles volunteers prepared a fun-filled event for the kids, who enjoyed games, entertainment, snacks and mall rides, and received gifts and prizes.
For several years now, SM’s ChriSMiles gives employees the platform where they can share their blessings, talents, time and presence. Together, volunteers bring the joy of the holidays to kids, most especially those in need. As an SM-wide activity, ChriSMiles is usually held simultaneously or within the same week of December, resulting in over 3,000 SM Supermalls employees spreading feel-good cheers all over the Philippines.
At SM City Bacolod, the kids of Barangay 13 enjoyed an early day at the mall. They participated in parlor games and got to ride the Storyland train and carousel. Aside from special toys and prizes prepared by the volunteers, each kid was also gifted with a bear from SM’s Bears of Joy.
Past beneficiaries of the Bacolod supermall include children of Kalipay Negrense Foundation, the differently-abled, kids of the other nearby barangays, and children of the mall’s own janitors and security guards.
The village’s chief, Andre Familaran, expressed his thanks for having the children from his barangay as this year’s ChriSMiles recipients. “The children enjoyed a fun fieldtrip to the mall and came home with lots of gifts and good memories,” he said. (PR)
