Abu Sayyaf bandit surrenders in Sulu

AN ABU Sayyaf bandit has surrendered and yielded a high-powered firearm to government authorities in the island province of Sulu, military officials said Friday, December 20.

Brigadier General Leopoldo Imbang, Jr., Army’s 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT) commander, identified the Abu Sayyaf surrenderer as Al-amin Jul-ambri alias Albura, who belongs to the Abu Sayyaf’s Ajang-Ajang faction.

Imbang said Jul-ambri surrendered around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to the Task Force 92 (TF92) of the 1BCT in Buhanginan Village, Patikul, Sulu.

He said the surrenderer has turned over a United States-made caliber .30 M1 Garand rifle and several rounds of ammunition.

Jul-ambri received financial assistance and a sack of rice from the military, the army official added.

Jul-ambri, a follower of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Alkam Uljamal Hadjail, was placed under the custody of TF92 for custodial debriefing. (SunStar Zamboanga)
