Installation of CCTVs in villages urged

BACOLOD City Councilor Lady Gles Pallen, Barangay League president, urged all the village officials to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras within their areas of jurisdiction to intensify the peace and order situation in the city.

Pallen said the officials should start to install CCTVs especially in the strategic areas within their villages.

Of 61 villages, she said Barangay Tangub already installed their CCTVs command center while Barangay Taculing also installed five CCTVs in the identified strategic areas.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) earlier urged all the officials to install CCTV or command center within their villages.

Gonzales said they supported the DILG for the installation of CCTV to address the crime incidents in various villages.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran earlier said the City Development Council (CDC) has a recommendation to purchase additional 73 high-definition CCTVs to be installed in various areas of Bacolod.

He said this project will be implemented by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).

He added the DRRMO also submitted the lists of the 73 areas in Bacolod that will be covered for the installation of CCTVs.

These areas are 6th Street, Alijis-Taculing or Bacolod Memorial Park, Alijis Road, Araneta Avenue, Circumferential Road, Golden Field Araneta Avenue, Gonzaga, street, Hilado Street, Luzuriaga Street, Mabini Street, Magsaysay Avenue, entrance and exit of Bacolod Government Center, Paglaum-Burgos Streets, Rizal Street, among others.

In May, the City Government installed a total of 39 CCTVs in various intersections in Bacolod.

Familiaran said CCTVs are big help to monitor traffic accidents, floods and crime incidents in the city.
