PASSENGERS are advised to travel light and avoid the rush hour for a hassle-free experience at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT).

So said CSBT officer-in-charge Carmen Quijano, as more than 5,000 passengers are expected to flock to the terminal starting on Saturday, December 21, 2019 for the holidays.

"We'd like to remind passengers not to take too much stuff with them. Bringing too many luggages may result to congestion, accidentally leaving them behind or just having a hard time, especially if you have kids with you," Quijano told reporters in Cebuano on Friday, December 20.

She also advised passengers to take earlier trips to avoid the traffic jam brought about by the holiday season.

Those that might not make it to the earlier trips, though, are assured that seats will be available for them at the waiting lounge.

Stalls and concessionaires were temporarily moved to the back portion of the terminal to increase the capacity of the waiting lounge.

Aside from this, the CSBT management also prepared 200 seats at the back portion of the lounge to ensure that traffic flow of passengers would remain smooth.

In a separate interview, Rhee Telen Jr. of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said they will remain on standby during the holidays.

"Our vehicles and ambulance from the PHO (Provincial Health Office) are also ready," he added.

Telen said they are preparing for emergency response in relation to the development of the low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility into a tropical depression.

"We'd like to remind again those who are living in high-risk areas, both low-lying and landslide-prone areas, to be vigilant. Please immediately call your respective LDRRMOs (Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office) for any untoward incidents," he said.
