High satisfaction ratings for Mindanawon senators

NINE in every 10 Dabawenyos are happy with the performances of three Mindanawon senators, a survey conducted by a university showed.

The University of Mindanao Institute of Popular Opinion (UM-IPO) survey, conducted from July 23 to August 9 this year, showed 93-percent satisfactory rating to senators Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go of Davao City, Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa of Davao del Sur, and Aquilino Pimentel III of Cagayan de Oro City.

UM-IPO added that only three percent said they are not happy while four percent offered no response.

Meanwhile, 84 percent of the respondents firmly believe that the three Mindanawon senators have given their full support in all the programs and projects of President Duterte. Only eight percent said that the three had shown reservations.

The survey also asked respondents of their support from different agenda of the three senators.

On “legalizing death penalty for drug lords of Bato”, 94 percent said that they support the initiative while four percent mentioned they will not.

As to the “Creation of Department of Corrections”, 83 percent of the respondents are in favor, while nine percent said they are not supporting it.

While on the “Political party reforms” proposed by Pimentel, 81 percent are in favor while nine percent are not in favor.

The push towards federalism, meanwhile, received 83-percent response that they are willing to rally behind the policy while nine percent said they won’t.

On Dela Rosa’s “Death penalty for heinous crimes”, 91 percent responded positive while seven percent of those surveyed were apprehensive about the agenda.

While on the “Creation of Department for OFWs”, 87 percent expressed their full support. Only eight held no support for the program.

UM-IPO surveyed a total of 1,200 respondents covering the three congressional districts of Davao City. The respondents were systematically chosen in order to achieve a random effect at a 95 percent confidence level and five percent margin of error.
