The Department of Interior and Local Government has announced the award last Saturday in Mandaue City.

After the Monday morning flag ceremony, city officials led by Mayor Oscar Rodriguez paid tribute to some 50 students, who bagged honors for their respective schools in the regional and national Secondary Schools Press Conference, Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association and English and Math Olympiads.

Binibining Pilipinas Second Runner-Up Nicolette Henson and Miss Friendship Kate Alimurong were also recognized.

“We are nearing the apex of our vision to become a habitat for human excellence. As you can see, our triumphs in the intellect and education, beauty, sports and good governance are manifestations that our vision can truly be realized,” said Rodriguez.

He added that the efforts of the City Government on excellence will continue in the coming years.

Rodriguez also announced the salary increase for all employees by 25 percent because of the successful collaboration of the executive, legislative and all departments of the City Hall.
