Cebu south bus depot official urges passengers to travel light

PASSENGERS are advised to travel light and avoid the rush hour for a hassle-free experience at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) in Cebu City.

So said CSBT officer-in-charge Carmen Quijano, as more than 5,000 passengers are expected to flock to the terminal starting on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 for the holidays.

“We’d like to remind passengers not to take too much stuff with them. Bringing too many luggage may result in causing congestion, accidentally leaving them behind or just having a hard time, especially if you have kids with you,” Quijano told reporters in Cebuano on Friday, Dec. 20.

She also advised passengers to take early trips to avoid the traffic jam brought about by the holiday season.

Those who might not make it to the early trips, though, are assured that seats would be available for them at the waiting lounge.

Stalls and concessionaires were temporarily moved to the back portion of the terminal to increase the capacity of the waiting lounge.

Aside from this, the CSBT management also prepared 200 seats at the back portion of the lounge to ensure that traffic flow of passengers would remain smooth.

In a separate interview, Rhee Telen Jr. of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said they will remain on standby during the holidays.

He said PDRRMO vehicles and an ambulance from the Provincial Health Office are also ready.

Telen said they have been preparing for an emergency response in relation to the development of a low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility into a tropical depression.

“We’d like to remind again those who are living in high-risk areas, both low-lying and landslide-prone areas, to be vigilant. Please immediately call your respective local DRRMOs for any untoward incident,” he said. (RTF)
