CADIZ City-native Renz Rosia pulled off a huge upset over the weekend by defeating fellow Negrense boxer Aston Palicte of Bago City via unanimous decision in a non-title fight at the Manila Arena in Manila City.
The win was a huge boost to Rosia”s boxing career who has a bumpy campaign the last two years after lost four of his last seven matches. The victory improved Rosia’s record to 16-9-1 win-loss-draw with eight knockout wins.
For Palicte, the loss was tough after failing to clinch the WBO world super flyweight belt against Kazuto Ioka earlier this year. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Palicte dropped his slate to 25-4-1 including 21 stoppage wins.
In the undercard, Sipalay City-native Glenn Bismanos settled for a technical draw with Jomar Paliwen of La Union.
