P9.3-M shabu seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P9.3 million worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in separate drug busts of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in various barangays from December 21 to 25, 2019.

The operations also led to the arrest of five drug personalities identified as Shery Mae Jopson, 24, of Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan; Hardy Gellang, 35, of Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay 19; Edgar Gemina, 46, of Purok Tahong, Barangay 2; Sunny Capa, 22, and Ely Lorence Sazon, 29, both residents of Barangay Banago.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said on Thursday, December 26, Jopson was arrested by operatives of Police Station 7 led by Police Major Carmelo Nermal after she sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover at Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25.

Recovered from Jopson’s possession were four sachets of shabu worth P20,000 and the P300 marked money.

On Tuesday, December 24, Gellang was arrested by operatives of Police Station 2 led by Police Major Sherlock Gabana at Regency Plaza Tourist Inn, Barangay 40 at about 2 a.m.

Recovered from Gellang’s possession were eight sachets of shabu worth P195,000, the P500 marked money, one unit of .357 caliber loaded with four live ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, operatives of Police Station 2 and City Drugs Enforcement Unit arrested on Sunday, December 21, Gemina, a street level target, at Purok Tahong, Barangay 2 at about 7:30 p.m..

Recovered from Gemina’s possession were 31 sachets of shabu worth P30,000 and the P500 marked money.

On Saturday, December 21, Capa and Sazon were arrested by operatives of Police Station 3 led by Police Major Ruel Culanag at Bangga Subay, Barangay Banago at about 8 p.m.

Recovered from the suspects’ possession were 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu worth P9,150,000, the P1,000 marked money and a coin purse.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facilities of Police Stations 2, 3, and 7 and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
