Anti-NPA rally staged during CPP anniversary

MEMBERS of the security sector, former rebels and other civilians have joined the indignation rally concert to condemn the atrocities allegedly perpetrated by the New People's Army (NPA) in time for the founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) on Thursday, December 26, 2019.

Top officials of the city, police and military gave their respective messages, hoping that the longest-running insurgency in Asia will come to an end.

Some former rebels also shared their experiences when they were still members of the rebel group.

An official of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao said the region remains peaceful as the communist insurgents celebrated the CPP anniversary on Thursday.

PRO-Northern Mindanao Director Brigadier General Rolando Anduyan announced there have been no incidents as of 4 p.m. Thursday.

But police force, together with other members of the security sector, remain alert against any possible atrocities perpetrated by the NPA, the CPP's armed wing.

"Lower units were continuously reminded to be alert and security conscious at all times to deter any evil plans of the terrorist NPA," police said.
