Sulop earthquake victims get help

DAVAO City’s Task Force “Oplan Tabang” conducted relief operations to earthquake victims in Sulop, Davao del Sur on December 27, benefiting a total of 2,095 families.

Task Force Davao commander Colonel Consolito Yecla said the relief items were distributed to identified villages in the Municipality of Sulop, one of the most affected areas following the 6.9 magnitude earthquake on December 15.

“The mission of ‘Oplan Tabang’ is to receive, repack, and distribute relief goods from the people of Davao City for the earthquake victims who needed the most at the right time,” Yecla said.

The food packs and 12,570 liters of mineral water were delivered onboard five trucks to 2,095 families in barangays Tanwalang with 209 families, Talas with 300 families, Talao with 338, Katipunan, 92; Kiblagon, 449; McKinley, 138; Palili, 32; Poblacion, 342 and Solongvale, 74.

Task Force Davao also distributed around 1,800 meters of tarpaulin, 90 pieces mosquito net, 180 pieces blanket, 180 pieces cooking ware and nine sacks of assorted clothes.

Yecla added that they have coordinated with the Municipal Incident Command Post (ICP) for their monitoring before the relief distribution to identify areas that need assistance.

Oplan Tabang Task Group Sulop is composed of different offices such as the City Mayor’s Office, Davao City Social Service and Development Office, Public Security and Command Center, Davao City Engineers Office, Davao City Police Office, and TF Davao.
