Public urged to register with PhilHealth

AN OFFICIAL of the Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) corporation has urged the public to register to enable them to avail the services of the agency.

Philip Cataylo of the PhilHealth regional office made the call as the Universal Health Care Law will be fully implemented next year.

Cataylo said that anyone aged 21 and above must register so that they will be assessed whether they will be categorized as direct contributor or indirect contributor.

Cataylo said the direct contributor are those employed, self-employed, and Overseas Filipino Workers who have the capacity to pay while the indirect contributors are the senior citizens, persons with disability, and the members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, who do not have the capacity to pay.

He added the government will shoulder monthly contribution of the indirect contributors.

Republic Act 11223 otherwise known as the Universal Health Care law was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in February 2018 while its Implementing Rules and Regulations was signed October 10, this year. (SunStar Zamboanga)
