BY NOW, many of you have identified the Matina area as one of the go-to places in Davao City if you are looking for good food. Whether it is within the compounds of Matina Town Square or somewhere tucked within Juna Subdivision, you will find something good to eat.

A friend and I recently had lunch in a new burger place in the city – Halftime Burgers.

My friend had the MVP: Halftime Burger while I had the Bacon Mushroom Melt. I also ordered their Channing Fries.

We enjoyed our burgers. The patties were thick and juicy. The MVP: Halftime Burger contains 140 grams of pure beef patty topped with Halftime house sauce, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and special melted cheese.

The Bacon Mushroom Melt is 140 grams of pure beef patty with bacon bits, button mushrooms, and special melted cheese. I enjoyed this burger. I just love how meaty and juicy it was.

To complement the meal, was the Channing Fries, which is fries drizzled with cheese sauce.

After our lunch, we went to Lara Mia Cafe and Bistro for dessert and coffee before heading back to work.

I ordered a cup of coffee while my friend had tea. For dessert, we ordered the Trianon and F4 cake.

The Trianon Cake is my favorite cake at Lara Mia. It is a delicious slice of dark chocolate mousse with peanut butter crunch.

Giving the Trianon cake a run for its money is the F4 Cake, the restaurant’s take on the ube cake. Now, this is a delicious slice of ube cake. My favorite ube-flavored dessert right now. What I love about their ube cake is you really get that distinct earthy and sweet flavor from the ube.

The coffee that I ordered paired wonderfully with the two cakes we had for dessert.

I would love to lounge for a bit longer at Lara Mia but now we have to return to work.
