THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao recorded two indiscriminate firing incidents in the region during the holidays. However, no casualties were reported.
In a report provided by PRO-Davao, the first incident involved a security guard who illegally discharged his firearms. He was identified as a certain Gentiles Vincent Redito, male, 37, married, and a resident of Purok 1, Kinamayan, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte for the illegal discharge of firearm.
Based on the police’s initial investigation, at about 7:45 p.m., Monday, December 23, while at C55 Realty Incorporated in Matina Aplaya, Davao City, the security guard on duty accidentally fired his issued firearm, hitting the floor outside the establishment.
The incident caused alarm among the customers. He was held by a member of the Intelligence Branch of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) who was there in the area during the incident.
Recovered from his possession was one unit Rock Island Shotgun with one live cartridge.
The suspect was released after the required period detention since there were no complainants to press charges against the suspect.
Upon verification, all the documents on the legality of the firearm were found legal.
On a separate incident, the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) from Barangay Magsaysay, Carmen, Davao del Norte arrested at around at around 10:40 a.m Tuesday, December 24, a certain Aldrin Torres Carillo, 18, single, laborer, and a resident of Purok 3-A of the same area.
The suspect fired his handgun in front of his father, Allan A. Carillo, at their residence.
Recovered from possession and control of the suspect was one unit homemade handgun locally known as sumpak loaded with one fired cartridge case believed to be from caliber .38.
Carillo is temporarily held in Carmen Municipal Police Station for filing of appropriate charges.
