THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has closed down the Panaad Park and Stadium for 11 months to undergo a major renovation.

This was confirmed earlier by Anthony Carlo Agustin, Executive Assistant to Governor Eugenio Lacson, that the twenty-year-old stadium will have its facelift ahead of the forthcoming Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet and Palarong Pambansa in 2021.

The renovation of the sports facility costs around P150 million that includes the repair of the rubberized track oval worth P50 million. Also included in the refurbishment is the construction of the grandstand roofing and painting of the whole facility.

It was recalled that Negros Occidental was awarded the hosting rights of the 2021 Palarong Pambansa last year by the Palarong Pambansa Board and Department of Education Central Office.

Following the deliberations on the bids presented by the bidder-LGUs and the inspection report presented by the technical inspection team, Negros Occidental was declared the winning LGU to host the 2021 Palaro by a majority vote.
