POLICE are hunting down a man who introduced himself as a police officer to extort money from vendors at the fish landing area in Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City.
Major Evan Viñas, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said the suspect was identified as Glen Calang.
Operatives went to the house of the suspect in Barangay Kauswagan but he is no longer there.
Investigation showed that the suspect has been doing this “modus” several times. The recent was on January 1.
Police said the suspect introduced himself as a policeman and then asked vendors for money. Accordingly, he would point his gun at the vendors who refused to give in to his demands.
The suspect then fled the area on board a motorcycle.
Viñas said the suspect was previously arrested and detained for drug and robbery cases.
“Notorious ni siya ug nadakpan na sauna tungod sa druga ug robbery unya nakagawas na (He is notorious and was arrested due to drugs and robbery),” Viñas said.
Authorities are asking all the victims to file charges against the suspect.
