Bacolod records 6 firecracker injuries

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) recorded six minor firecracker injuries in Bacolod City during the New Year’s Day celebration.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Friday, January 3, the New Year’s celebration was generally peaceful with no significant incidents recorded.

There has been no indiscriminate firing or stray bullet incidents were reported.

Of six firecracker victims, four of them were minors and were brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) and Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.

“Most of our victims were picking up unexploded firecrackers on the streets,” Pico said.

He said for the crime incidents, BCPO recorded three reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries, stabbing, and robbery incidents.

“The peaceful celebration of New Year can be attributed to the continuous police visibility, information dissemination on prohibited firecrackers, and crime prevention tips through distributed flyers and the use of social media,” Pico added.

Pico said they are also thankful for the cooperation of the public to achieve a peaceful and orderly celebration of the New Year’s Day. (MAP)
