Galendez wins monthly finals berth

ART Galendez recently crowned himself Datba Weekly Tournament champion to earn a seat in the December 2019 monthly finals set on January 12 at SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center.

Galendez, with a handicap of 23, toppled 589 pins after three games in the qualifying event held on December 28 at the same venue.

Gabriel Velasco, whose handicap is 10, grabbed the runner-up honors by hitting 569 pinfalls while Joshua Disuacido (15) finished third with 566 pinfalls in the bowlfest organized by the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba).

The top three pintopplers received cash prizes of P900, P500 and P300 in the 18-player field.

Galendez is the father of seasoned players Arthur John (AJ) Galendez and two-time SM Millionaire's Cup champion Dianne Galendez-Lim.

AJ, who was December 7 champion, is also vying for the monthly title along with qualifier Dianne. Finalists also include Celso Garcia (Saturday champion) and other qualifiers Velasco, Kert Palces, John Tamondong, Ulysses Caturan, Ivan Awid, Julius Cajis, Ulene Rose Rule, Dario Beloy, Tans Bernas and Jesrael Rule.
