FILIPINO entrepreneurs are encouraged to export more food and electronics products to Morocco, as the African country also seeks collaboration in fertilizer trade.
Morocco Ambassador to the Philippines Mohammed Rida El Fassi believes there is “still a lot to be done” in the area of food and some electronics products in Morocco with a population of 35 million.
“We can also have cooperation in fertilizers (trade),” he said. “I think the agriculture here in the Philippines needs fertilizers.” The ambassador underscored the need to facilitate increased trade between the Philippines and Morocco.
“This can be done only by exchange of visit, conduct one-on-one (business matching) in Morocco or in the Philippines. And this is one (that) what we have to work (on) with the Department of Trade and Industry and with the Foreign Ministry,” he said.
El Fassi said the two countries have to determine which products they can exchange.
“I’m sure there are a lot of things which can be done between our two countries,” he said, noting that Morocco is an attractive destination for investment.
El Fassi further said Morocco is present in 31 African countries through its banks, insurance, telecommunication, mining, construction, pharmaceutical and water sewerage utility segments.
“With two seafronts, Morocco is also the largest fish market in Africa. Other crucial sectors include agriculture which contributes around 90 percent of total gross domestic product,” he said.
El Fassi said its textile sector has also undergone the process of modernization, facilitating its export to various markets of the world, European Union and United States. (Philexport News and Features)
