DPWH-Central Luzon chief lauds successful Lakbay Alalay

DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Central Luzon director Roseller Tolentino commended the personnel and teams responsible for the successful Lakbay Alalay program in the region.

Tolentino lauded the maintenance teams of the 14 district engineering offices in Central Luzon for the daily close monitoring of major roads resulting to smooth traffic all over the region.

The director, who ordered a six-hour interval submission of situational reports, said critical and traffic-prone sections did not experience congestions. However, isolated cases of minor engine troubles and flat tires were noted which were quickly attended by the DPWH crew.

The Christmas and severe Typhoon Ursula Lakbay Alalay teams were positioned along major thoroughfares in the region’s seven provinces.

“We activated our Motorists Assistance Teams beginning December 23, 2019. Our District Engineering Offices instantly complied and facilitated the unified manning of their stations 24/7. Our qualified mechanics were there to assist motorists and pedestrians who may encounter trouble while on the road,” Tolentino said.

He added traffic was smooth throughout the season making the trips leading to churches and tourism sites easy and comfortable.

The 14 district engineers and their maintenance chiefs defied the traditional holiday respite, and instead focused on serving the public as has been the standing order of Secretary Mark Villar.
