THE suspect in the fatal road rage incident in Consolacion town, Cebu on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2019, that killed two brothers has been identified by the local police.

On their official Facebook page, the Consolacion Police Station tagged Danny Desierto, a resident of Barangay Tugbongan, as the man who shot and killed Rogelio Garcia, 53, and his brother Marcel, 50.

On their post, the town police are asking the public to provide them with information on Desierto’s current whereabouts after he went missing following the incident.

On the night of Jan. 1, Rogelio and his brother were on board a motorcycle and were heading home when they encountered Desierto on his motorcycle in front of a department store in Barangay Poblacion.

In hiding

Witnesses disclosed that the three were involved in an argument just before Desierto allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the brothers several times.

Rogelio died immediately while Marcel was critically hurt at the time of the incident. The latter eventually died at the hospital at 4 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Police Executive Master Sergeant Vincent Aguanta, Consolacion deputy police chief, told SunStar Cebu that they were able to identify Desierto through a witness who approached them.

Aguanta said the witness’ accounts gave them the break they needed to pinpoint who killed the brothers.

Although Desierto remains at large, Aguanta believes he is still hiding in Cebu.

Aguanta said they decided to post Desierto’s photo and other details about the suspect on social media as a way to get more information on the latter’s whereabouts. (BBT / JKV)
