Exec: More budget for social programs

ANGELES CITY -- "The Lazatin administration is ensuring that those who have less in life will have more from the city government."

This was stated by IC Calaguas, chief adviser of Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., who presided a recent meeting with department heads of the local government unit.

Calaguas said Lazatin pushed for more budgets to help the less privileged members of the community.

"For 2020, Mayor Lazatin came up with what we both call as the ‘people’s budget’ since a large portion of it was allocated for social projects for children, youth, transport, senior citizens, PWDS (persons with disabilities) and solo parents," Calaguas said.

She added the mayor is set to implement unprecedented projects like pension for the elderly, solo parents and physically challenged persons.

"Mayor Lazatin will be implementing projects that are first in the history of Angeles City such as distribution of social pensions for senior citizens, solo parents and PWDs funded by the city government," Calaguas said.

The city government also allotted additional funds for the procurement of medicines for the Ospital Ning Angeles and its Renal Care Unit and the barangay health centers, she added.

Lazatin is also opening a minor surgery clinic, dental clinic and animal bite center at the city hall this February, according to Calaguas.

"This will make access to health and dental services easier for our people," Calaguas said.
