Cagayan de Oro's Tongco hailed in Misamis Oriental

MARIZZE Andrea Beja Tongco was present during the opening program of the 7th Kuyamis Festival Monday morning, January 6, as she was recognized for her contribution as member of the Gilas Pilipinas Women's Basketball team.

Last December, the Gilas Pilipinas Women bagged the gold medal during the Southeast Asian Games (Sea Games) against Thailand, winning with a score of 91-71.

Apart from a plaque, which was given in recognition for her commitment to sports as well as her personal display of sportsmanship and camaraderie with her teammates, Tongco also received P25,000.

Tongco is a 25-year-old Kagay-anon basketball player with a height of 5'2" who played as shooting guard/small forward for the Philippine team during the recently concluded Sea Games and in the Fiba Asia Cup in India in 2018.
