AROUND 142 boxes of processed meat products were seized by Cagayan de Oro City's Anti-African Swine Fever (ASF) Task Force during its regular monitoring and inspection on Friday, January 3, 2020.

Of the 142 boxes, at least 52 contain pork hotdogs and sausages that were confiscated and sealed by the task force in collaboration with the National Veterinary Quarantine Services (NVQS) Misamis Oriental in a depot in Barangay Agusan.

The 92 other boxes of processed meat products were held by the task force due to lack of sufficient documents such as certificate of product registration and list of ingredients, among others.

The temporary total ban on the entry of hogs, all fresh/frozen pork meat and processed pork products from Luzon, and other identified ASF-affected areas in the country and abroad is still in effect in Cagayan de Oro City at present.

There is still no plan to lift the temporary ban in the city, said City Veterinarian Lucien Anthony Acac.
