Hontiveros organizes charity game featuring Cesafi champions SWU-Phinma vs. UC

MORE help is on the way for the victims of the fires that razed Inayawan, Duljo-Fatima, Mambaling and T. Padilla after Cebuano basketball legend and Cebu City councilor, Dondon Hontiveros, organized a charity basketball game featuring the reigning Cesafi champions Southwestern University-Phinma Cobras and the University of Cebu Webmasters at the Cebu Coliseum on Friday, January 10, 2020.

The event, which is being done in collaboration with Fighter Fifty Wine, seeks to raise funds that will be donated to the victims of the unfortunate fire that displaced many families in the aforementioned areas.

Tip off is at 6 p.m. Ticket prices are set at P30 for general admission, P60 for the upper box, P120 for the lower box, P150 for ringside and P200 for the VIP section and stage area.

The game will feature a Cobras squad that just begun preparing for their stint in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League(PCCL) this February. The newly-crowned Cesafi champions took a lengthy break over the holidays and got back to practice on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

The Cesafi’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), Shaquille Imperial, is set to lead the team once again against a UC squad that recently pushed the reset button with the departure of former head coach Yayoy Alcoseba and the arrival of returning head coach, Kern Sesante.

Fortunately, UC will not be lacking for reinforcements as Hontiveros himself will be suiting up for his alma mater along with Talk N Text and Gilas star Roger Ray Pogoy.

The reigning PBA MVP Junemar Fajardo is also set to make an appearance at the event.

“I feel honored of course to be chosen as one of the players in Cebu to play for an important game especially that it will surely benefit a lot of people. Also, it amazes me knowing that I'll be going up against some of the best players in the country,” said Imperial. (JNP)
