RTA: No parking along Traslacion route in Oro

PARKING along the route of the procession of the Black Nazarene is not allowed, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) announced Tuesday, January 7.

RTA assistant department head Nonito Oclarit said Fernandez and Velez streets will be a no parking zone starting on the evening of January 8 until morning of January 9.

Oclarit said vehicles parked along these streets will be towed away from the area while the owner will be penalized.

The annual religious procession will start at 5:30 a.m. after a Holy Mass at the St. Augustine Cathedral. It is expected to draw around 300,000 Catholic devotees and faithful.

From the Cathedral, the procession will pass Fernandez Street, turn left to Velez Street and take a right turn to the highway near Shell station, and will end at the Nazareno Church. The procession may take two hours to reach the Nazareno Church.

Meanwhile, Mayor Oscar Moreno activated the Incident Management Team (IMT) in a memorandum issued Tuesday, January 7.

The IMT, composed of personnel from the police, RTA, Philippine Red Cross, fire department, and various line government agencies, is tasked to respond to distress calls immediately.

The IMT is also mandated to stabilize situations as rapidly as possible, the protection of property, and the implementation of traffic scheme to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
