ONGOING at the Casa Gorordo Museum till the end of May is the “Zones of Influence” art exhibit featuring the three winners of the 2008 Ateneo Art Awards - Poklong Anading, Marina Cruz and Kawayan de Guia. The exhibit signals the start of the partnership between the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and the Ateneo Art Gallery. Its aim is to encourage art exchanges between Cebu and Manila, and to promote Cebuano visual artists at the national level.

Cathay Pacific, named “Airline of the Year 2009” by the Skytrax World Airline Awards, is all set for its new passenger service between Hong Kong and Milan, Italy, scheduled to start March 28 this year. The four-times-a-week flights will use a Boeing 777-300ER ultra-long-haul aircraft. Other developments include additional thrice weekly service to Toronto commencing on March 28 and to Los Angeles starting May 1. This will definitely strengthen Hong Kong’s position as one of the world’s leading international aviation hub.

By the way, Cathay Pacific Cebu will be offering an extra flight at the end of the Holy Week departing Cebu for HongKong on Thurs., April 1, and then HK-Cebu on Sunday, April 4.

On centerstage at SM Cinema 1 a few weeks ago was the Si Chuan Modern Puppet Show from the Si Chuan province in the southwestern part of China. The one-of-a-kind cultural show was presented by the China Overseas Exchange Association and the Cebu Filipino-Chinese United Community whose president is Joseph Gaisano.

A new landmark at the Asiatown IT Park is the TGU Tower, the latest project of Innoland Development Corporation. Formal opening had Innoland’s enterprising couple, Jojo and Marilou Ong, playing hosts for cocktails at the viewing deck on the top floor. The company’s key officers include Joy Anthony Ong, chief executive officer; Charles Vincent Ong, chief operating officer; Marilou Ong, VP-Finance; Wilson Granados, VP for marketing and sales; and Tetta Baad, marketing and sales consultant.

Rain or Shine All Weather Furniture recently opened its modern showroom in Jagobiao, Mandaue City. There are three sections in the building: the export showroom, the local showroom and the overruns department. All sections display furniture using synthetic materials in varied colors and designs, manufactured by Lenbert Manufacturing Inc. Among the company officers are Edward Hayco, Osbert Lim and Jim Cassels.
