TANS Bernas opened his 2020 campaign on a high note by clinching the first Datba Weekly Tournament title this year at the SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center over the weekend.
Bernas, who had a 26 handicap, struck for a total of 610 pinfalls after three games to rule the 27-player bowlfest organized by the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba).
Darius Beloy, with a 30 handicap, grabbed the runner-up honors after hitting 598 pinfalls while Joshua Disuacido (15) garnered 582 pinfalls to place third.
Champion Bernas received a cash prize of P1,200 while next two placers Beloy and Disuacido claimed P600 and P400, respectively.
A similar tournament was set Tuesday evening, January 7, also at SM Lanang Premier Bowling.
In the youth division, Chad Tancontian (35) amassed 565 pinfalls to emerge champion over Enzo Sulit (35) and Suzanne Beloy (45) who took the second and third spots, respectively, in the three-game tournament.
Sulit scored 496 while Suzanne rolled 466 pinfalls.
Meanwhile, the December 2019 monthly finals tournament will roll off on January 12, offering bigger cash prizes with trophies.
