Police confiscate loose firearms

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- The five search warrants served by elements of Ilocos Sur Police Province Office (Isppo) last week against five residences at a barangay in Santa town yielded several guns.

At the report submitted by Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Director Eduardo Dopale, the five search warrants were issued by Judge Rogelio Ringpis of Municipal Circuit Trial Court, Coayan-Sta. Catalina, First Judicial Region in Caoayan Ilocos Sur.

Subjects were Jimmy Queddeng, Demmie Surrido, Isidro Queddeng Sr., Maria Jesusa Queddeng, and Esmeralda Frial, all of Sitio San Jose, Magsaysay District, Santa, Ilocos Sur.

Dopale said that on the morning of March 12, elements of the Isppo led by Provincial Public Safety Maneuver Company Chief Emmanuel Reyes successfully confiscated the firearms and ammunition under the Philippine National Police’s Oplan Paglalansag.

He said the search at the house premises of Surido yielded two Gauge 12 Norinco shotguns, a 9mm pistol, a caliber .45 pistol, two firearm magazines and various ammunition.

Confiscated at the house of Maria Jesusa Queddeng were 22 pieces of live ammunition for shotgun; while the house of Esmeralda Frial yielded a M16 Armalite rifle, a 9mm pistol, one unit telescope, firearms magazines, and various ammunitions.

At Jimmy Queddeng’s residence, the police recovered an empty magazine for caliber 9mm Taurus, while the house of Queddeng Sr. yielded negative results.

Police Regional Director Constante Azares Jr. commended the Ilocos Police for their unrelenting effort cleaning the province of loose firearms. (LCMY/Sunnex)
