BCPO seeks augmentation of force for Bacolaodiat

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will ask an augmentation personnel from Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas for the 15th Bacolaodiat Festival in Bacolod City on January 31 to February 2.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Lester Leada, chief of the operations branch of BCPO, said Wednesday, January 8, they are now preparing their security plan to secure the areas of Lacson Tourism Strip and Bacolod Government Center.

He said they will request an additional of 300 policemen from PRO-Western Visayas to the security of the festivity.

BCPO will be deploying more than 500 personnel including the augmentation personnel from PRO-Western Visayas.

Leada along with the Bacolaodiat secretariat held a meeting on Monday and discussed the road closure in the areas of Lacson Street.

“It was discussed that there will be a road closure from 5th to 15 streets and North Capitol Road for the festivity,” Leada said.

He said the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) was already tasked to prepare its traffic rerouting plan for Bacolaodiat.

The objective of this year’s security plan is to have a “zero major incident” and they will adapt some security features during the MassKara Festival, the police official said.

Leada added that last year’s MassKara Festival, the crime volume also declined.

“We will adapt some security features of the MassKara Festival to assure the festival goers that they are safe while they are at the Bacolaodiat,” he said. (MAP)
