AROUND 200 "Guardian" responders will be deployed starting Thursday, January 9, 2020, to augment the emergency response team for the Sinulog celebration.

Guardian, a dispatch and civilian reporting system developed by software firm SugboTek Inc., aims to deliver faster response time in emergency cases like fire, medical help and crime.

SugboTek chief executive officer Cloyd Dedicatoria, developer of Guardian applications, said the public can use their app even if there will be a cellular phone signal shutdown.

The app is a form of a public service with no cost to those who need assistance and the operators that would respond, Guardian said on its Facebook page.

Dedicatoria said they will be installing wi-fi hotspots and security cameras in strategic areas along the solemn procession and carousel route.

He urged the public to download the application so the public can report immediately if there is any emergency that will occur during the celebration. (JJL)
