"REACHING out to people in friendship and in love is a dimension of the bigger peace that we desire."
This was according to Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, who, amid the international conflict between the United States of America and Iran, urged the faithful to pray for peace and to pray for world leaders.
Prayers, he said, have ways to touch the human heart that the human, perhaps, could not fathom.
Palma said the church is praying for the world leaders that they may be guided.
"We have learned a lesson in the past and war is a useless approach to dealing with our concerns with our problems," he said.
Iran struck back at the United States on Wednesday, January 8, for killing a top revolutionary guards commander, General Qassem Soleimani, as it fired a series of ballistic missiles at two military bases in Iraq housing Americans.
Palma said he still believes in leaders sitting together and having a dialogue in solving problems.
"To be able to use weapons and of course resort to killings and threats, of bombing of heritage sites is certainly a madman approach to our relationship with nations, " the prelate added.
Palma also urged the younger generation, especially the youth, to be in solidarity in advocating world peace that, instead of coming up with memes, use the technology for building good relations with "fellow brothers and sisters."
"There is always an invitation to look into the message of life and peace deep in our hearts. Reaching out to people in friendship and in love I think, that should be the dimension of the bigger picture that we desire, " Palma said. (WBS/With a report from AP)
