Santillan makes PHL 3x3 pool

CEBUANO forward Leonard Santillan has been named to the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 national pool for the 2020 Fiba 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

A product of the University of the Visayas basketball program, the Lapu-Lapu City-native is part of the pool that has been hard at work training since December of last year under the supervision of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 commissioner Eric Altamirano, Liman ace and China head coach Stefan Stojacic, and Serbian strength and conditioning coach Darko Krsman.

Also helping out in the sessions are Troy Rike and Franky Johnson.

As per FIBA 3x3 rules, four of the six players that will be part of the team should be in the top 10 of the country’s rankings. Bannering the pool are the top two Filipino players Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol.

The rest of the squad are Dylan Ababou, Karl Dehesa, Chris De Chavez, Gab Banal, Jaypee Belencion, Leo De Vera, and Ryan Monteclaro.

The Olympic Qualifying Tournament takes place on March 18 to 22 in India. Three teams from the tournament will earn spots to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. (JNP)
