GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson has designated Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer as acting governor of the province starting Friday, January 10, until January 18.

In Executive Order 19-50, Series of 2019, Lacson said he will travel to San Francisco in the United States for a vacation.

"To ensure continuous and effective delivery of basic and social services, it is necessary to designate an acting governor to assume my duties and responsibilities," the order stated.

The governor also reiterated their commitment to the province.

"Our commitment is that, Ferrer will take care of the Legislative and I will take care of the Executive functions for the good of the province," Lacson said.

His statement came amid the reiteration from Ferrer that he has no plans of running for governor as he is contented with his position.

"I wish media did not ask him that question because Vice Governor Ferrer and I are committed to work together for the province. The Vice Governor is just reiterating our commitment," Lacson said.

Ferrer made the statement on Tuesday, January 7, when asked if the merger between the two major political parties in the province still holds.

Lacson is one of the leaders of Love-Negros with former Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez who is now his consultant, while the United Negros Alliance (Unega) is now lead by Ferrer.
