3 motorcycle riders killed in Murcia accident

THREE persons onboard a motorcycle were killed in an accident on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in Purok Bomba, Barangay Salvacion, Murcia.

The fatalities were identified as Milven Kim Aringa, 27, a resident of Purok Kapayas, Barangay Zone 4; Mark Christopher Gozon, 22, a resident of Purok Indian Mango, Barangay Zone 4; and Tommy Dumdumaya, 25, a resident of Smile Village, Barangay Salvacion, all from the same municipality.

Police investigation revealed the three victims were riding a single motorcycle traveling from east to west. Upon reaching the area in Purok Bomba, Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, the victims rammed the left rear portion of a six-wheeler truck that was parked at the side of the road.

The truck was driven by Jemark Cunanan, 21, of Barangay 10, Victorias City.

The police indicated the victims were reportedly coming from Barangay Minoyan and were under the influence of alcohol.

The victims were rushed to Corazon Locsin Montilebano Memorial Hospital, Bacolod City for medical treatment but were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The truck driver was placed under the custody of Murcia PNP for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, a person died in a shooting incident on Monday, January 6, in Sitio Candida, Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan.

The victim was identified as Rosito Merito, 33, laborer and a resident in the area.

The suspects were identified as Jimmy Tavera, JR Tavera, Jojie Tavera and alias "Ogak/Oca" (true name unidentified), all of legal ages and residents of Sitio Tonggo, Barangay Cabadiangan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

Based on the statement of Ronlie Merito, 28, he and the victim were chased and shot by the suspects with handguns, but the two were not hit.

Rosito, however, did not return to his house after the incident, alarming his family.

On Wednesday, a mobile phone call was received by the Binalbagan PNP from Ronelyn Maraviles, who informed them that his older brother Rosito, who was reportedly missing, was found dead in a sugarcane field, more or less 20 to 30 meters away from his residence.

A post-mortem examination conducted by Dr. Hazel C. Pagunsan, Binalbagan Municipal Health officer, found the victim sustained two gunshot wounds on his back and right arm, causing her death.

The suspects reportedly fled after the incident and are still at-large.
