KNOWN as the bedrock of Nestlé Philippines, Barangay Tablon of Cagayan de Oro continues to be a blessing for local chess development.

The Individual Open on Saturday, January 11, will kick off the 7th Tablon Barangay Fiesta “Tatluhan” Chess Tournament that will be contested on Sunday, January 12, at the covered court of Barangay Tablon.

“Pipila na ka tuig consistent wala’y sipyat among barangay pag-hold sa chess tournament every fiesta celebration,” proudly said tournament coordinator Fr. Vic Arellano.

(For several years, our barangay has been consistent in holding the chess tournament every fiesta celebration.)

Awaiting the top three winners in the Individual Open with 15 minutes time control and five seconds increment are the P6,000 top purse, trophy and P3,000 and P2,000 cash with medals. The fourth placer will receive P1,000, while the rest of the top 10 finishers will be given P500 each.
