508 boxes of processed meat products intercepted in Tagoloan port

MORE than 500 boxes of processed meat products were confiscated by the Provincial Veterinarian Office last week at the Tagoloan port.

Inside the 508 boxes, according to Provincial Veterinarian Benjamin Resma, were packs of hotdogs and chorizos which were transported via a van going to the cold storage located in Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City.

"Nagpadayon ang atong pag monitor sa tanan nga entry points dinhi sa atong lalawigan," Resma said.

"And atong gi-confiscate, naa sa sulod sa van, gusto dad-on sa tag-iya sa cold storage. Gidala sa cold storage sa Cugman," he added.

The goods, according to Resma, came from outside the country and were imported to Luzon and delivered to Misamis Oriental.

Resma said they turned over the confiscated goods to the City Veterinarian Office to be disposed.

He added the 508 boxes were among the P71,000 worth of processed pork products that were burned by the Anti-African Swine Fever Task Force in a vacant lot inside the compound of the animal shelter and impounding facility of Cagayan de Oro City.

At present, Resma said there's still no plans to lift the ban on the entry of live hogs and pork processed products from Luzon and other African Swine Fever-affected areas in the province.

"Wala pa. Sa Manila, bisan ang secretary sa agriculture nag ingon man nga naa pa, wala pa gyud ma control," Resma said.

"Unless nga sila mo-declare nga control na, then we will recommend to Governor Bambi Emano nga i-lift na ang ban. Pero kun naa pa, dili pa gyud nato tugutan," he added.
