Rookie cop collared for illegal drugs

A POLICEMAN and his civilian companion were arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Valencia City, Bukidnon over the weekend.

Police identified the suspects as Patrolman Michael Jhon Ondap, 33, presently assigned in Manolo Fortich Police Station, and Glenn Vincent Valendez; both residents of Maramag, Bukidnon.

Confiscated from the two were two big sachets of suspected shabu weighing 1.5 grams worth around P15,000.

Also confiscated were a Canik caliber 9mm, steel magazine of caliber 9mm with 15 live cartridges, and a motorcycle.

The policeman will face charges for selling, possession, and use of illegal drugs.

Valencia City Police Chief Lieutenant Colonel Surki Alday Sereñas said the sting operation against the police officer proves the Philippine National Police's commitment to rid its ranks of misfits.

"It's a black eye to the PNP. What he did tarnished the image of the entire PNP but we'd rather sacrifice one rotten tomato and nip him in the bud than permit him to destroy the whole organization," Sereñas said.

"He is going to face the full consequence of his action. We will file both criminal and administrative charges against him," he added.
