Drug suspect killed in Southern Leyte town buy-bust

A SUSPECTED drug pusher was killed on a shootout with authorities during a buy-bust in Macrohon, Southern Leyte Sunday, January 12, 2020.

Glen Gildo, a high-value target (HVT) and alleged member of Acasio Drug Group, allegedly drew his firearm and opened fire to the operating team after sensing that he was transacting with a police officer at around 3:52 p.m. Sunday at Barangay Flordeliz of the said town.

The suspect, who was a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Padre Burgos, sustained gunshot wound on his body when the police returned fire.

He was immediately brought to the nearest hospital for medical treatment but was later pronounced dead.

The combined operatives were from Macrohon Police Station, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea)-Eastern Visayas, and Southern Leyte Provincial Police Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (Slppo-Pdeu) led by Major Ariel Nuñez.

The undercover police officer was able to buy eight pieces plastic sachets suspected to be shabu.

Police recovered in the crime scene two pieces empty shells, one short firearm caliber .22, one hand grenade, one unit of XRM Honda 110, a bull cap, and sunglasses.
