THE Malacañang suspended classes in all levels and government work in Central Luzon on Monday, January 13, 2020, due to expected ash fall from Taal Volcano.
The order, however, did not include “frontline response agencies” involved in disaster response and in the delivery of vital services.
The private sector, meanwhile, were also “highly encouraged to suspend work for the safety of their employees.”
The Palace, through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, made the announcement on Sunday midnight, January 12, to ensure the safety of students and workers from any effects of volcanic ash fall.
Governor Dennis Pineda also made a localized suspension of classes in all levels, both public and private, ahead of the Malacañang order as a precautionary measure.
He also advised Kapampangans to wear face masks and if possible, stay indoors as a precaution from any harmful effects the volcanic ashfall may cause to human health.
