Cervantes: Warning, Miracle, Chastisement

SEARCH Garabandal on YouTube and find raw black-and-white amateur videos of what actually happened there from 1961 to 1965: the apparitions of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel or, despite lack of Church approbation, what I refer to as Our Lady of Garabandal.

The videos, with the technological crudeness of the 1960s, should amaze. The visionaries – Conchita Gonzalez, Maria Dolores (Mari-loli) Mazon, Jacinta Gonzalez and Maria Cruz Gonzalez (not related despite same surname.) Maria Cruz was 11 years old, the others 12 – are seen looking at the Blessed Mother with their eyes focused above the top of their heads, walking fast and safe during such visions without looking at the most rugged terrains, levitating past a rivulet, lifting each other with the use of their fingers so as to kiss the Blessed Mother while combined efforts of strong men could not move them during the apparitions, among other phenomena seemingly outside the scope of the laws of nature.

At Garabandal, the Blessed Mother gave the visionaries prophecies that could happen unless mankind converts: the Warning, the Miracle, and the conditional Chastisement.

These three prophecies are not exclusive to Garabandal. It turns out that several saints who had lived hundreds of years ago had also talked about the warning. St. Edmund Campion, SJ (1540-1581) described the Warning, saying, “I pronounced a great day, not wherein any temporal potentate should minister, but wherein the Terrible Judge should reveal all men’s consciences and try every man of each kind of religion. This is the day of change.” Blessed Anna Maria Taigi (Italy, 1769-1837) prophesied: “A great purification will come upon the world preceded by an Illumination of Conscience in which everyone will see themselves as God sees them.”

But only Garabandal hints, nay, explicitly declares that we now living on earth (unless we die too soon) are likely to witness the Warning and the Miracle as these two, as ascertained by the visionaries are to occur less that a year apart and that one of them had been told to make the announcement eight days in advance of the exact day of the Miracle.

Before tackling these three very interesting prophecies, there were other interesting messages the Blessed Mother conveyed during her apparitions from June 18, 1961 to June 18, 1965.

In the autumn of 1961, the visionaries revealed the Blessed Mother’s first message to mankind: “Much sacrifice needs to be done and much penance, we have to visit the Blessed Sacrament much, but before we have to be very good. If we do not do this, a punishment will come. The cup is being filled, and if we don’t change a punishment will come.”

On January 1, 1965, it was again St. Michael the Archangel that conveyed the Blessed Mother’s message through visionary Conchita: “Because it was not fulfilled and my message from October 18th, 1961 has not been made known to the world, I tell you this is the last one. Before the cup was being filled, but now it is overflowing. Many priests are walking through the path of perdition and taking with them many souls. Less and less importance is given to the Eucharist. You should prevent God’s anger upon you with your efforts. If you ask forgiveness with sincerity, He will forgive you. I, your Mother, through the intercession of the Archangel Michael, want to tell you to amend your lives. You are in the last warning. I love you very much and don’t want your condemnation; ask and you will receive. You should do more sacrifice; think more in the passion of Jesus.”

And now, the Warning, the Miracle and the conditional Chastisement.

On January 1, 1965, Conchita talked about the Warning thus: “I cannot say in what it consists, she (Blessed Mother) has not ordered me to say it. She has not told me when it will be. Therefore, I don’t know. I do know that it will be visible for the entire world; it is a direct work of God and it will occur before the miracle. I don’t know if people will die. They can only die from the impression they see.”

In a letter to a confidante, Conchita wrote: “This warning is like a punishment, for the good and for the bad: for the good so they can draw closer to God and for the bad to tell them the end of times is near. This is to be the last warning.”
