THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) listed on Monday, January 13, a total of 76 barangays in the municipalities of Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Balete, Cuenca, Laurel, Lemery, Lipa City, Malvar, Mataas na Kahoy, San Nicolas and Santa Teresita in Batangas which are susceptible to volcanic tsunami caused by the eruption of the Taal Volcano.

The Taal Volcano is under Alert Level 4, which means that hazardous eruption is possible within the following hours and days.
The volcano has been spewing ash and lava since Sunday, January 12, 2020.
Phivolcs Supervising Science Research Specialist Winchelle Sevilla said there is a possibility of a volcanic tsunami once the alert level of the volcano is raised to 5. (SunStar Philippines)
