Kapuso stars heat up Araw celebration

GMA Network's newest talents were in Davao City Sunday for a mall show that also kicked off the network's celebration of the 73rd Araw ng Dabaw.

Before they performed at SM City's Event Center, the Starstruck V finalists -- Davao City's pride Steven Silva, big winner as the Ultimate Male Survivor; Sarah Lahbati, the Ultimate Female Survivor; First Princess Diva Montelaba; 1st Prince Enzo Pineda, and 2nd Prince Rocco Nacino -- joined a motorcade around town to the delight of their Dabawenyo fans.

It was a successful homecoming for Steven, who auditioned at SM City Davao to later become the grand winner.

Sunday's show was the first leg of Starstruck's Ultimate Regional Roadshow Mall Show that was especially prepared for them and will also bring them to the cities of Bacolod, Cebu, Iloilo and Baguio.

The Final V, along with the nine Starstruck Avengers, recently signed an exclusive five-year management contract with GMA Network as part of their winnings in the country's most prestigious artista search.

For a start, Steven, Sarah, Diva, Enzo and Rocco are among the Kapuso stars who will entertain you through GMA's newest Sunday noontime show Party Pilipinas, which replaces SOP. The Sunday show will start airing on March 28.

"We are very proud that we become part of the show where we can hone our talent in singing, dancing and hosting," Enzo told this writer.

Party Pilipinas, according to Enzo, is their first regular show on GMA, although they already have guestings in the networks other top-rating shows.

Together with Steven and Rocco, Enzo said they have auditioned for a role in Gumapang Ka sa Lusak, an afternoon soap topbilled by Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo.

"We are still waiting for the result of that audition," Enzo said.

The Final V kicked-off their Davao activity Sunday with a motorcade, which started at Magsaysay Park and traversed the city's main streets which included Ponciano, Bonifacio, Palma Gil, Quirino Avenue, Cabaguio, Leon Garcia, Quezon Boulevard, San Pedro, Bankerohan, McArthur Highway, Matina, and Quimpo Boulevard before reaching SM City for their mall show.

Prior to their arrival, the audience were already all hyped up with the on-ground show and games facilitated by Kapuso local personalities led by Chuck Allie (himself, a Starstruck alumnus), Kristine and Krystal Gonzales, and Bea Dela Fuente.

For their opening number Rocco, Diva, Enzo, Sarah, and Steven danced heated the stage with a production number, after which, they were called to perform their pieces.

Rocco serenaded the ladies in the audience with the popular Tagalog ballad, Ngiti, before showing off his dance moves Like We're Dying, and For Your Entertainment -- the songs he danced to during the Finals Night.

Enzo wowed the big crowd as well with his performance (Rainism, Do You Remember, and Down). Dusky beauty from Cebu, Diva, sang Taylor Swift's popular ditty Lovestory and Rihanna's Hate That I Love You; while the lanky and sweet-faced Sarah sang I'm Yours, afterwhich she introduced Davao's pride, Steven Silva.

Steven had the crowd on their feet when he opened his act with a Tagalog ballad Ako'y Sa 'Yo. He then showed off his dancing prowess -- via the song Replay and Sexy Chick - when he reprised the act that bagged him the Ultimate Male Survivor title.

Tuesday, other GMA Network artists also heat up the Araw ng Davao celebrations. The young stars of First Time -- Joshua Dionisio, Barbie Forteza, and Jake Vargas -- were a hit during the Parada Dabawenyo.

Last night, the Kapuso stars were at the Atrium of Gaisano Mall for the Kapuso Night.

Hunky Aljur Abrenica and the charming Kris Bernal - stars of The Last Prince -- led the line-up of stars, who also included Joshua, Barbie, and Jake together with the Sexbomb Dancers.
