Oro councilors frustrated over LTFRB-10’s ‘inaction’ on colorum taxis

FRUSTRATED with its regional office’s “inaction”, some councilors on Monday are asking the help of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) national office to solve the problem of colorum taxi units in the Cagayan de Oro City.

Councilor Roger Abaday on Monday, January 13, urged LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra to create an interagency task force to go after the unregistered taxi units in the city.

“Our request to the regional office was not acted upon so we need the help of the national office because it is really unfair to the legal taxi operators,” Abaday said.

Councilor Teodulfo Lao Jr., chairman of the committee on public utilities, said going directly to the national office is the best option.

“Uyon ta ana kay gabalik-balik nata, nagsabot na nga mag create ug task force, wala man gihapon nahimo. The best solution is let the national government intervene,” Lao said.

Lao said an interagency action might eradicate the colorum taxi units especially if the crackdown team will include police officers.

In November last year, Abaday first proposed the creation of an inter-agency task force.
